About Access Medical Equipment
In 2006, we were newly married, and Travis had a dream of owning a business. We were just 24 and 25 years old at the time, and while banks weren’t eager to lend to such a young couple, Travis found a unique opportunity in a small, four-year-old company called Access Medical Equipment. One of the things that made it possible was that the business was half owner-financed. The rest came from a generous loan by a family member. And just like that—Access Medical Equipment became ours. It turned out to be one of the best decisions we’ve ever made.
In 2017, we moved out of the original, very small location and into a new space nearly five times the size. It was a big and scary leap, but thanks to the incredible support of our customers, it was absolutely the right move.

They we're able to screw on my partners walker wheel back on for free and i was able to get myself a walker for a pretty good price. They let us sit inside and wait for them to fix it and let us test run the walkers around the building. 10/10 would recommend them!!Posted on Google Heather PereraTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Amazing, friendly, helpful. Can really tell it’s a local small business as they really value their customers and listen to their needs.Posted on Google John TurmanTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Absolutely incredible customer service!! Mario went above and beyond to help troubleshoot the battery on my uncle’s ComfyGo Wheelchair which wouldn’t turn on. We were in and out in 15 minutes and the price was unbeatable. THANK YOU!!Posted on Google Kirsten GundersonTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Open on Saturdays! Great selection including high quality tall walkers in a variety of colors. Owner Jeremy was incredibly helpful. Lots of easy parking. They can also do repairs on what they sell. 10 out of 10!Posted on Google Kathyrn HennesseyTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I needed a Bed table that went across me.They had one at an awesome price and we were able to pick up without any problems.Posted on Google John OrrellTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Mario did a great job helping my Dad pick out the perfect chair, then Mario didn't hesitate at all to help me load the chair into my truck. Thank you Mario!Posted on Google Glenn DasmalchiTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. My mother is not quite ready for a wheelchair, but we stopped by to rent one so that she could attend an event (that would have otherwise required her to stand for a long period of time.) The store attendant was helpful in selecting a chair, and we rented it for a week. As (bad) luck would have it, Mom got sick and wasn't able to attend the event. We returned the chair unused (it was brand new with tags, and still was when returned). Of course it's not their fault that Mom got sick, and they certainly held up their end of the contract - so a solid 4 stars. One thing that would have improved our experience given the situation (and made us more likely to patronize in the future), was a credit/discount on a future rental or purchase. I did ask, and the answer was "no." Oh well.Posted on Google Gary SchwartzTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Bought 3 suction cup assist handles for the shower, all 3 failed and will not stay on shower wall. I nearly fell when one of them failed. I bought one off Amazon several years ago and it is still on my shower wall. Very disappointed with their product for twice the price.Posted on Google Maia HammyTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Hi Access, what's with all the pictures showing doors with different addresses? Do you have multiple locations and, if yes, what's available in each location? Thanks!
In 2020, we expanded again by purchasing another durable medical equipment business in Renton, previously known as Cornells Medical, which had served the community for over 50 years. We renamed it to Access Medical Equipment, fully renovated the space, and significantly expanded the inventory. That location is now home to an amazing team, including one especially dedicated employee—Shawna—who has worked there for over 40 years!
In 2024, we made another big move—relocating our Seattle store from Aurora Avenue to the Lake City neighborhood. The new location is bigger, brighter, safer, and far more accessible for our customers. We now offer plenty of free parking, easier entry, and a much more welcoming environment to shop and explore products in person.
Now in 2026, we’re proud to be celebrating 19 years in business. What started as a leap of faith has grown into something deeply meaningful to us. Travis continues to run the business full time, and we feel incredibly lucky to be surrounded by a fantastic team that shares our commitment to helping others.
We know that if you’re coming to us, you or someone you love is likely going through a challenging time—whether it’s recovering from surgery, dealing with an injury, or simply needing extra comfort while aging. Our goal is to make that experience as easy, positive, and personal as possible. We believe in treating every customer like a friend, and we’re here to build relationships that last.
When you support a small business like ours, you’re doing more than just making a purchase—you’re investing in your community. You support not only our family, but also the families of our amazing staff. And just like you, we believe in shopping local and supporting small businesses whenever we can, because it truly matters.
From the bottom of our hearts—thank you for 18 years of continued support. We wouldn’t be here without you.
